I saw a line form outside the icecream store when they were giving away free cones, despite the storm. It meandered down the length of a block, and children with mixed expressions of pleasure and displeasure pushed against their parentals. They licked their scoops, shivered beneath umbrellas and raincoats, and experimented with velocity to send puddles splashing against passerby. I marveled at the tenacity of the City of Freaks and Roses. Icecream in the midst of hail. They don't even blink at the rain, do they? I love my city.
